Is is not unusual for eyesight to deteriorate over time, at least as long as you're growing. When you get into your 20s, it should stabilize. For that matter, it should probably be slowing down soon.

That being said, -9.00 is quite strong.

If your eyesight is going to change, it's going to change. Realistically, there's nothing you can do to stop it. Contacts won't be as visible, and when you get old enough, you might consider surgery.

Especially as a child, your body is growing and changing so it is very normal for your eyes to be changing too. Normally, they should stop changing so drastically between 20-25 years old, but it really depends. Keep your glasses or contacts updated to the newest prescription, if you are wearing old glasses, you are straining your eyes, and this can cause them to get worse faster. Try not to strain your eyes, if bright lights bother you, wear sunglasses outside, get transitions in your lenses, get anti glare for indoor lights and to eliminate glare from computer or tv screens. They sell vitamins for your eyes like preservision. And believe it, carrots actually do help your eyes! (antioxidants really).
Your prescription should stabilize in a few years and you might be eligible for lasik if glasses or contacts are uncomfortable.
