where can I get good prescription eye glasses online?!

Question: Where can I get good prescription eye glasses online?
Id like to order back up glasses now that my glasses broke waiting on my contacts. I don't want to spend a lot because I'm already going to be wearing contacts now most of the time. I want to find a safe good place to order from though!

Buying online is like flipping a coin. Heads you win, Tails you lose. If you ever went to a "brick and mortar" store, like where your optometrist is, and tried on frames, you know that even though the frame might be the right size and right style, you may not like how it fits or feels on you. Even going to the optometrists office and finding "your size" may not actually be "your size" depending on the way the frame is made. Then you have the problem of what do you do if you have a problem? Will they take care of it? Maybe, maybe not. And if they " take care of it", will they take care of it to your satisfaction? What if the prescription is wrong? What if they measured incorrectly? What if they made the lenses incorrectly? How do you send them back? How do they fix them? What if they break? Do they have parts? What is their warranty? Ever try to deal with a problem with someone online? If you have to send the frame back, who pays shipping?

Y'know. Even though I don't care to admit it, sometimes going to a place that sells two pair for $89 might not be such a bad idea for people in your position. At least you can walk in there and deal with a person face to face.

I disagree with Ed. Buying glasses online is not like flipping a coin. In fact, it's perfectly normal and works almost every time as long as your read all details.

Here is a site that is safe: http://www.optical4less.com/

I've been an online consumer of prescription eyeglasses and I know my way around. The first thing is that if you have a pair of glasses measure them and compare it to the measurements found online (they provide all details). The general rule of thumb is +/- 3-5mm is OK. Then, when entering your prescription be sure to enter the right details in the correct column. For styles, there is an option to upload a picture and it lets you place the glasses onto the picture.

If you have any questions/concerns, feel free to ask again, or you can ask their customer support, they are quite friendly.

Good luck!
