Seeing black spots... is it normal?!

Question: Seeing black spots... is it normal?
For some reason now, occasionally this little black strips of black spots appear in my vision, in between the vision from my 2 eyes meeting.
Just like, they're free floating towards the area in between my eyes. They occur often when my eyes are bloodshot.
I kind of assumed it was my eyes "seeing my veins" more or less.
I went to my optometrist about 3 months ago... he didn't really say anything was wrong with my vision... but are these little black spots something to be worried about?

I'm glad to find that I'm not the only one with this problem! I just noticed this a few years ago and it's very irritating & sometimes I notice it for hours-like a black flashing light out of the right corner of my eye-and it's only when I look around or something. I would think it's just floaters too. As long as you don't get more of them more frequently I wouldn't worry to much about it. You just have to put up with it :/

Sounds like it may be floaters in the eye.

Floaters are those annoying flecks that float around seemingly in the front of your vision and move when you go to look at them. Sometimes they are mistaken for something flying around your head.

As the eye ages the fluids inside the eye begin to shrink. These proteins which at one time were firmly attached to the back of the inner eye are now detached and floating around inside the eye. This is not a problem as long as it doesn't take the retina with it. So how do you know if the retina is detached. Normally you would not know. There are a few symptoms that suggest that may be the case:

1. There is a sudden increase in the number of floaters in the eye.

2. There are flashes of light associated with the increased floaters.

3. There may be a grey curtain or loss of vision.

Only a dilated eye exam by your optometrist or ophthalmologist can determine if you have a serious problem.

That happens to me too! It's completely normal. This is probably happening because one eye cant see what the other eye sees. Like if your looking left, the black dot appears on the bottom left of the right eye.
