A white pupil is a big deal. The structures inside your eye are red to orange. Your pupil is an opening to them. The reason it looks black is that it is dark inside your eyes. We use special instruments that put a light at the same place our eye is. When we do this peoples pupils look red or orange to us. I am not sure how this situation could be duplicated otherwise.
