Stuff to do to give my eyes a break?!

Question: Stuff to do to give my eyes a break?
My eyes have been feeling kind of funny lately. It is probably partially because I'm on the computer all the time, but I think the thing that has caused the most problems lately is lack of sleep. Whatever ther cause, I want to give my eyes some more time away from the screen. What can I do at home that would not require using my eyes a lot? Books don't really count, they aren't much better.

The only thing I can think of so far is listening to music, which could even have eyes closed.

Sleep, doing chores, reading is actually fine since there is there is a contrast. With the book your eyes can tell that it is 3 dimensional where this is flat, so your eyes strain to read and see what is on the screen.

Every 10-15 minutes, stop for a few seconds and stare at a far corner of the room. If the computer is what's causing the eye strain, it's because you're keeping your eyes focused at the same distance for extended periods, not because actually seeing with them makes them tired. Changing your focus every so often should help with this.

As far as the lack of sleep, the answer should be obvious, in that if you just can't fall asleep, you should seek medical help with the problem. The human body needs sleep, and no other solutions will take it's place.

Last, if both of the above don't fix the problem, get an eye exam. You might be having some mild vision troubles and not even realize it. Something as simple as over the counter reading glasses might solve your problem, but better to have an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist check it out to be sure.

The best thing to do is eye exercise called palming. Using your palms to hold over eyes for a few minutes. It is based on Bates method of better eyesight without glasses. It`s kinda hard to describe it here, you really need to read the book based on that method. It restores your blurry eyesight and relaxes your eyes. And you will be able to read books and computer no problem. You can find a book in this website

Lay down in your bath tub filled with nice, hot water, some candles around to soften the mood, and close your eyes and relax.
Go to bed?

I use to do this all the time where I was nonstop on the computer and I went to the eye doctor because I had eye problems and he told me if I was looking at the bright light and pixels too much that I could loose my eyesight or have to get glasses. Take a day off from the computer and go spend it on the beach. Does wonders.

yea what i do is listen to music, lay on the couch or bed and close my eyes.
or what you can do is go to your backyard, or park, or beach (I prefer beach) and lay down and look at the sky.

beach is the best because youre laying on warm sand and listening to the waves.
its so amazing.

it is good to give your eyes a rest, but it doesn't necessarily mean closing them. I do a lot of close-up intricate work and have been told that every 20 minutes or so, to look up and focus my eyes for a few minutes on something further off in the distance.

Popular theory states that 1 hour on the computer or other screens is enough then take a short break.
Closed eyes sounds good. "Refresh" eye drops also help I find.

try some sleep
