Are glasses & contact prescriptions the same or different?!

Question: Are glasses & contact prescriptions the same or different?
Okay so I have presciption contacts, & I want to get like "back up glasses" to wear around my house & stuff because my contacts fell down the sink & I had to wait 2 weeks to get new ones (I couldn't see very well for 2 weeks), so if I get glasses is it gonna be the same prescription as my contacts? Are they the same or different prescription? Do I have to have another eye exam to get glasses? I hope that makes sense.

Answers:

In some cases contact lens prescriptions and eyeglasses prescriptions are the same, but not always. If you have prescription that is +- 4.00 or more than it will definitely not be the same.

I suggest contacting your eye doctor to get your actual RX.

My prescriptions are different. You shouldn't have to get another eye exam as the doctor who gave you the contact lens prescription has already done the testing needed, but you will have to go back to that same doctor and ask for your glasses prescription.

No. Actually eyeglass lenses are much larger than contact lenses and they don't ride on the eyes so the prescription is different.
Also contacts are a different kind of plastic than glasses.

Yes, they should be the same.
I have both glasses & contacts and they're both the same prescription.
