What is the worst experience you have had with contacts?!

I've worn CL's since 12 yrs old, the worst thing I did (which was many moons ago) was fall asleep with them on. They were literally stuck to my eyes the next morning...big no no. I've been in the eye care field for quite a long time so I have many horror stories that I have seen. Probably the worst thing you can do is over wear your contacts. If they are 2 week wear, then throw them out in 2 weeks. Do not extend them for longer regardless of what others say. Follow your doctors instructions. Not that I would think you would do this, but here's the worst thing I ever witnessed. And it's a biggy! Several years ago, a patient came in for an emergency office visit. Her eyes were extremely swollen. Upon her exam, she had told the doctor that she had been wearing the same lenses for several months (2 week wear lenses) b/c she could not afford to buy more boxes of contacts and she didn't have any back up eyeglasses. When he examined her eyes, he found severe edema and her eyes had swelled OVER her contact lenses! Now mind you, she did not take them out at all. She had left them in 24/7, but needless to say, she had to get them surgically removed. So with that said please follow your doctors orders, please don't sleep in them, make sure to get a back up pair of eyeglasses to give your eyes a break, and if you ever have any questions or concerns please call your eye doctor. You only get one set of eyes, take care of them!

I wear contacts everyday.
1. Try not to sleep in them.. I'll explain more later.
2. If you drop them, clean them with the contact solution in the palm of your hand.
3. Replace the solution regularly. Just this morning I had this horrible almost burning sensation in my right eye because there wasn't clean solution (you can clean in your palm so it doesn't burn)
4. My contacts have a little clear line, and it has to be facing me for my contact to go in right. But the more popular brand I had before didn't need special insertion.
5. I got an eye infection from sleeping in my contacts.. Red bumps formed on my lids, gross boogery eyes.. Just gross stuff. My contact would slide around in my eye, because my irritated eyelids moved it around. I later got a recommendation for a drugstore eyedrop thing, and my problems were solved with a new brand of contacts, and some eyedrops.
6. If your contact dries out, you can fill the contact container with solution, submerging the contact. EventuLly it will go back to it's normal state.. But wait atleast a day before using it if it stuck to the side of the case. It's pretty uncomfortable:/
