Retinal Detachment Symptom?!

Every time when I go to sleep and I stare at the ceiling I find that dark shadows grow from the corner of my vision and progress to the center to a point where I can barely see anything else. It goes away when I quickly look at something else though. Is this a sign of retinal detachment or something not serious.
