Worried about my eye?!

Question: Worried about my eye?
My eyesight has always been poor, I have worn glasses since the age of 5 and can't see clearly without them. Today as I was rubbing my right eye (I still had my glasses on) I noticed that the vision through my left eye appears foggy/blurred..not sure how to describe it. It seems like there is something blocking my vision from being clear, like if you have a camera and there is a smudge on the lense?
Sometimes my left eye hurts a little and it gets watery but there isn't any reddness or anything. Around two years ago I had severe reddness, pain and watery left eye, it went on for months and no doctors could find out what was wrong. Eventually it went away by itself and I was told it was a viral infection of some sort.
I am now worried that this might be coming back? Should I get it checked out?
I don't want to waste the optician's time if it's nothing serious...

Answers:

Get to an optician or your Gp immediately. Theres no sense in playing around with your eyesight...probably the most precious sense you have. No GP or optician will think that you are wasting their time. It may be something simple but you need someone with the correct equipment to be able to look right inside your eye.
Possibly the simplest, most direct approach is to go to your local Casualty dept. You may have to wait awhile but they will have experienced staff and equipment, and will be able to give you a diagnosis, medication and referral into an eye clinic .
The most important thing is not to delay

personal problems with eyes.Lots of visits to casualty!

You should go to a eye specialist else you can use any trusted eye drop your eyes such as http://www.can-c.net/ but on regular basics

yes 100% go to the doctor and dont wait

Of course you should have it checked out by a professional because of the symptoms of blurry vision and a "film" that appears on the eye, but there are so many reasons for the eye to water, be red, have pain, blurry vision, etc. and two that come to mind are severe allergies that can cause all of your symptoms or a scratched cornea which would result in pain, watering and redness until the cornea has healed. The fact that it went away means that it probably isn't a chronic condition, but more like a scratched cornea. However there is another irritating condition of the eye that is called blepheritis which is a chronic infection of the eyelid which comes and goes. It takes using warm compresses and using baby shampoo and washing the eye every day to calm the symptoms and that does not go away, just comes and goes. The other condition which causes some people issues with their eyes is dry eye syndrome, which is where the tear ducts do not produce enough fluid to bathe the eyes. You can control some of those symptoms by using tear replacement drops. The only other thing to check for is thyroid disease and diabetes which are two disease that have an effect on eyesight and eye health. Just have it checked out and good luck!

Diagnosed with three of the known causes of eye irritation.
