Question: Question about eyes: Large and small pupils?
How does it affect an animal's vision when they have large or small pupils? For example, cat's have slits and dogs have rounded pupils.

Answers:

There are more variety to eyes than just pupil size...

Eyes are develop for sight and some animals specialize in it so much that it is their primary senses. It range from eye size, type of lens, shape of eye, number of eyes, etc. But to answer your question, pupil size determine range of sight. For example in human, a large pupil means you widen your sight to analyze the entire environment in general while a small pupil means you are focusing on a particular object. Cats and dogs have special lens in their eyes that help them see better at night, while human have poor vision at night, cats and dogs are able to see everything as though it is a full moon out at night time. Their lens light up when you shine a light in their eyes, especially at night.

To put it simple,
large pupil = wide eye-sight (near-sightedness)
small pupil = very keen, focused eye-sight (far-sightedness)

all it is, is the amount of light theyre recieving through their eyes
