Is it bad for your eyes to read in the dark (by flashlight)?!

Question: Is it bad for your eyes to read in the dark (by flashlight)?
The flashlight is bright and there are no glares? I was always told it was unsafe, but I don't see how, when there is a direct light on the page, with no glare? Reading before bed relaxes me, and I find that if I leave the overhead light on, it tends to keep me awake, but if I read by flashlight, I can go to sleep, so should I maybe get a booklight soon.

Answers:

No its not unhealthy to read by flashlight. It is however, bad for you eyes to watch TV in the dark.

This won't hurt you in the sense that your eyes will be damaged. It might strain your eyes a bit though , as having a room with one bit very light and the other dark puts a strain on them.
