How long can contacts last?!

Question: How long can contacts last?
I want contacts since I'm tired of wearing glasses. But I want to know how long can they last and do you have to get your eyes checked every time you go out to by a new one. And do they really eat away at your cornea?

Answers:

It depends on what brand you buy.

I had contacts that lasted me a week a pair, and now I have contacts that last a month.

Ask your eye doctor how long their contacts last.

Well, generally you would want to get an eye check up because you usually buy contacts that last up to 6-12 months. So,its always a good idea and sometimes the eye examine is free, depending on the place you go to.

Eating away at your cornea? I really dont think so,but you can go blind if you NEVER EVER take them out. Your eyes do need air,of course. But falling asleep with contacts on for a day or two wont do any damage to you.

Basically remove your contacts before or after you brush your teeth before going to bed.

worn contacts for 5 years

Your contact lens prescription will only be valid for 12 months, so if you need to buy lenses after that time, you'll need to get your eyes checked again. Some contacts are thrown away after wearing them for a day, some after two weeks, and some can be worn indefinitely as long as your prescription hasn't changed. It all depends on the type of lens you and your doctor decide on. Contacts don't eat away at the cornea or cause any type of eye injury or ailment as long as you take proper care of them and don't overuse them.

It depends on what brand your doctor prescribes to you. Some last a week while others last up to a month. No,they do not eat up your cornea. That is a total lie!You only need your eyes checked every 12 months or so.Just tell your doctor that you are running out and he/she will order some brand new ones just like the ones you have!
