What does the diameter of contact lenses measure?!

Question: What does the diameter of contact lenses measure?
I want to get some circle lenses. I've narrowed it down to three choices. The ones I really really want are 15.0 mm in diameter and the other two are only 14.0. So what do these differences mean? Will I be able to wear either?

Answers:

The diameter means the "size" of the lens. The 15 mm is 1 mm wider than the 14 mm. This is about 1/25 of an inch. The cornea (the colored appearing part of the eye, that the lens sits on is about 11 mm. So the 14 mm will extend about 1.5 mm on all sides of the cornea. The 15 mm will extend about 2 mm on all sides of the cornea.
The larger diameter is made flatter so that it will still fit and feel ok.
Go with the one that looks and feels better on you.
Never share circle lenses with anyone. Always used proper contact lens care on them. If not, serious eye problems can result.

The diameter means the actual width of the lens.

No one can tell you if either one will fit you. There is also the base curve of the lenses to consider , which is more important than the diameter.

Buying online lenses is a gamble as to whether they will fit you right or not. It's impossible to tell just by the numbers.

The same pair of lenses could fit fine on 3 people, but be a bad fit on the next 3....it's impossible to know in advance.
