a small cupping in the eye?!
Question: A small cupping in the eye?
I just went to the eye doctor recently to have an eye examination. Both of my eyes felt irritating and would sometimes burst into tears uncontrollably. After my doctor examined the eye with the dilation, he said I had a small cupping in my left eye, does this automatically mean I should be afraid of getting glaucoma? He did ask me if I had glaucoma, but I said no. He asked me to come back in a year to have another check up, and gave me an "alaway" eye dropper prescription. I did recall that he said I might have allergies which causes the irritation. I'm very worried, and would just like to know if I might be in danger of getting glaucoma. Thankyou very much!

well your question is not very clear! (S)he asked you if you have glaucoma? and small cupping generally doesn't mean glaucoma...actually is not the amount of cupping important as is its percentage as compared to the disc diameter! well, if you contacted an optometrist u would rather better go to an ophthalmologist, a glaucoma specialist better!
