Which causes more strain on your eyes?!

Question: Which causes more strain on your eyes?
Wearing an old prescription of glasses or not wearing glasses at all?

I have pretty bad vision, and recently I realized my glasses are giving me headaches because I haven't gotten them change in almost 2 years. I started getting contacts early last year and my eye doctor told me I didn't need to change my glasses because at the time they were only slightly less strong than my contacts.

But until I am able to make a eye doctor appointment should I walk around the house without my glasses on? Will that cause less strain on my eyes than walking around with an old prescription? I don't like to wear my contacts to often because within 4-5 hours they start to feel heavy on my eyes.

Answers:

If your glasses are the reason for you getting headaches, then don't wear them around. Give it a try without your glasses for a while, and see how that is on your eyes. If the headache seems to persist, than it's most likely the fact that you need to prescriptions. Try asking your eye doctor, he might simply offer you a new prescription on the spot.

If your glasses are just a bit under strength then your eyes are going to be more strained without them than with them. If you have an astigmatism though and that has changed then you'd get more eyestrain from wearing the glasses.

I find it a bit odd what you say about your contacts feeling "heavy". That doesn't ring a real bell with me and you shouldn't have problems with feeling the contacts on your eyes. Not quite sure about heavy but it sounds like you need to get your contacts sorted. Possibly there is a problem with the perscription or the fit, you should get more than that as a wearing time.

DAM I hate glasses too. For one, they actually just make your eyes worse. But it sucks for me cuz I need them to see the boards at school. And I also get headaches and eye strain. It feels like someone is burning my eyes with a magnifying glass or something.

SO I really think wearing them causes more strain. But also when you don't wear them, if you tend to squint to see far away, then that doesn't help cuz thats also straining your eyes.

If you can take off your glasses and be relaxed, then its good. Relaxes and soothes the eyes.

Oh I also don't like contacts because you hafto touch them and it gets in your eye. It can get infected and what not and generally our fingers are nto clean so when we touch the eyes, its a risk of infection and other problems, pink eyes?

Well, When I wear my glasses all day long, they do start to put a lot of strain on my eyes.
You may want to get your prescription checked out. Until then, take about a 5 minute break from your glasses if you REALLY need them to do something. Otherwise, keep them off for awhile because you could get really bad headaches for keeping them on too long.

Hope I helped!
