Why do my glasses make objects a little smaller?!

Question: Why do my glasses make objects a little smaller?
I have astigmatism, and I need glasses but when I am wearing them they make objects a little smaller but clearer. Why does it do that?

Answers:

Negative lenses cause objects to appear smaller. It could be that you've been over-minused if you can notice the smallness of objects. But if you look at your own eye in the mirror with and without your glasses on, you can see that your eye will appear smaller with the glasses on.
