Do glasses correct vision (in particular myopia) or not?!

Question: Do glasses correct vision (in particular myopia) or not?
i've read some conflicting stuff, some say it'll make it better whereas others say it'll just keep it in that state so you'll always need glasses (which logically makes sense to me)...some even say it'll make it worse...

here's a quote
'“If glasses are worn continuously over time the poor vision will generally become worse. Essentially what glasses do is lock the eyes into their refractive state and in order to see through your lenses you have to maintain the poor vision that the lenses are designed to correct.”

Answers:

That actually doesn't make a lot of sense for two reasons. One, it doesn't address why people start wearing glasses in the first place. They start because their eyes have deteriorated to the point of needing glasses. In short, their vision got worse without glasses. Two, it fails to understand that all glasses do is focus light. That's ALL glasses do, period. Because of that, the eyes don't need to strain as much to see. That's a good thing as that's how eyes are supposed to work (strain free). All glasses do is put the focus of light where your eyes need the focus to be in order for them to work strain free.

Just as eyes get worse all on their own to the point of needing glasses, they get worse all on their own tot he point of needing stronger glasses. But yes, glasses correct vision (what other purpose do glasses have?). Correct, not cure. They are different.

Glasses will correct your vision only while on. Wearing them or not will not cause your eyes to become better OR worse. Like kevin said, it all has to do with the way light enters the eye and focuses on the retina. The glasses bend light and provide a way for the light to hit just right and you see better, that's it. Most people who are nearsighted start at a young age, and this progresses generally as you grow until around age 20 when things can level off. As an adult, corrective surgery can be another option to eliminate glasses.

Unless you can find a way other than surgery to reshape the eyeball, then glasses or contacts are the best you can do. The lenses are just curvatures to bend the light and the prescription is merely a formula for curvature, though many call it "power".

no?

I've always heard that the eyes don't get worse with glasses, they just get used to being able to see clearly.
