Pink Eye - Bacterial, Viral, or Caused by Allergies?!

Question: Pink Eye - Bacterial, Viral, or Caused by Allergies?
I have seasonal allergies, and if my eyes get bad enough (and I'm stupid enough to itch them now and then), they get red and swollen. This happens maybe once or twice every 6 months. If I leave them alone for 30 minutes and/or take allergy medication, my eyes are fine and then back to normal for the most part.

That being said, last night before I went to bed, my right eye began itching badly. I did not touch it except one time, but it got pretty damn red. I put some antihistamine drops in it, I took my Zyrtec assuming it to be allergies, and went to bed - but when I woke up, BOTH of my eyes were "glued" shut by a crusty, greenish/yellow gunk, so I had to run warm water to open them this morning. They were very, very red, itchy, and puffy. They were bad throughout the whole day (and I hadn't touched them once), and remember, with my allergies, the redness would go away within 30mins - hour).

I went to MedExpress tonight and got some antibacterial eye drops (Ciprofloxacin), so I will see how it goes. I just wanted your guys' opinions. Can this case of pink eye be from my allergies? Or does the fact I woke up this morning with a crusty green discharge mean otherwise (such as a bacterial infection)? I know this could be viral as well. I have a little bit of a sinus infection with a mild sore throat and sinus headache if that makes a difference. I hope this is bacterial because I would rather have a 7 day case of this, rather it being a chronic allergy problem. Thanks for reading.
