Do I need glasses? Please help!?!

Question: Do I need glasses? Please help!?
i'm 13 and a lot of the time i squint to see the board at school, but i don't think i actually need to, but i still do. i think it is almost clear without squinting but i still do it anyways.
today in english we were watching a movie and my eyes hurt at that time and they do still now. after the movie finished, we read for a bit and my eyes really hurt and it feels like they have to be opened really wide. sometimes things go a tiny little bit blurry too.
and once i tried on my friends glasses which have a really low prescription and she barely ever wears them, and things seemed really sharp and clear.
might i need glasses? i don't think i would be going to the optometrist for a while though because i had an appointment only a few months ago. and plus if i told my mom, i don't know if she would even believe me. and also, i was playing some xbox with my brother, and my eyes were hurting and sometimes it blurred a bit. we were like 8-10 feet away from the tv i think.
any advice? do i need glasses? thanks!

Answers:

It sounds like you could be showing early signs of myopia (short-sighted) which is when objects can seem blurry if you are standing too far away. I suffer from myopia, and when I first developed it about 3 years ago, I found that things were becoming blurry, and my eyes were hurting from eye strain. So, I would go to the optometrist, and get your eyes checked out. You may even just need low prescription glasses like your friend. I have the same thing, and everything is perfectly clear when I wear them. Good luck!

yes
go to the eye doctor
