bionic eyes and ocular prosthesis?!

Question: Bionic eyes and ocular prosthesis?
i was just wondering.. I've read that ocular prosthesis or 'glass eye' fill in the empty orbital socket of a person's eye, but it seems that its not providing any vision to them. and now the question.
Can bionic eyes provide a clear view for the eye? i mean like a completely fine human eye.
many thanks to those who answer! cause im not really understanding the concept on bionic eyes :)

Answers:

Unless there are huge surprises in the future, we are decades if not centuries away from a bionic eye that would completely replace a natural one. One of the big issues is the millions of connections between the separate photo receptors and your optic nerve. There may be enhancements to damaged eyes such as telescopes or chips to help things a little that may get news coverage as bionic eyes but they are not what you would picture from science fiction.

Actually the mechanics & lens part of the "bionic eye" is not that hard. Think of how little the camera is in cell phone! The hard part is connecting this to the brain in a way that the brain can form an interpretable image.
