problem with my new glasses?!

Question: Problem with my new glasses?
I have my new glasses for 2 weeks and I can't see as well as my old ones. The doctor sad that my old glasses were totally incorrect on my right eye and because of my astigmatism that is now higher I need time to adjust my new glasses but the problem is that i see less with them. So I'm not sure what to do and how long do I have to wait until I can start see well. I also wear a contact lenses which are fine and have no problem with them.

After all that time and you still don't see well with it...there is definitely something wrong with the glasses prescription.

Go back and complain louder until they do something.

two weeks is a good amount for adjusting to new glasses if you are not adjusted to them by now you should see the eye doctor and let them know your more comfortable with your old prescription.

You should have adjusted by now, I would go back and have the optician check to make sure the lens match the rx

The problem with eye doctors is that they demolish your own self-belief/confidence in what is happening around you. You are probably totally correct in picking up that your new glasses are flawed. If they dont allow you to see well then you will be the best judge of that.

If you only have astigmatism and not myopia/hyperopia then you probably should be aware that wearing glasses will not help to improve your astigmatic vision.
This is because most research points out the cause of astigmatism being reading excessively. This activity allows the eyelid of the eye to apply pressure onto the cornea. This weight leaves an indent or depression on the what was once normal curvature on the front.
So while a cornea should be smooth and round like touching a light blub it has instead come to be dented. This means that any light entering the eye through the dent will bend differently to the rest of the light entering the eye..

If you are creating dents in your cornea from excessive reading then the simple answer is to take regular breaks when reading books and to rest properly at the end of the day. Dents like this occuring is quite common with alot of people. However they usually disappear after a good nights rest.

If you want to see exactly what kind of problem your cornea is facing then you can google "eye topography" (dont worry theres no blood or anything scary).

http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=e…

Here you can see some good normal shaped corneas and some with unusual slopes (indicated by harsh blue or red colours. If you see the one with just the green colour throughout it then you know that one has a consistant curve all over it.

If you dont want to learn about astigmatism and have no interest in changing your habits/lifestyle then so be it. But you may be allowing your astigmatism become worse.

If you have myopia thats worse than -1.00 you might want to check that you arent' delibrately interfering with the normal function of your eyes by using bad vision habits.

Bad vision habits if you want to know are listed online in sites like this one:
