I don't know what they meant by 50 and 70...those aren't numbers that have anything to do with your prescription required. That tells us nothing.

Do you wear glasses already ?

Can you see well with them on...or off ?

You will never hear an eyecare professional tell you your vision is horrible if you can see well with glasses or contacts on. You may have poor vision without them on , but that doesn't really matter.

Sorry...can't help more...your numbers don't give a clue to your condition.

From this it sounds like you've never had glasses before. Opticians beleive your vision is fine provided they can fully correct it with glasses and my guess is that you have been given a perscription which will fully correct it. If you are managing without glasses then your eyesight can't be that bad. The real test of how bad your eyesight is is how well you can manage without glasses or contacts. I suggest that you get a pair of glasses made up in the perscription - read some of the answers on yahoo for help on choosing frames. SEe how you see iwth those and how you feel about glasses. Then consider the relative advantages of contacts/lasik etc. I'm not an expert but I believe you need a stable perscripton for a while before you can have it anyway so working with glasses for a while is a good idea.

Sounds like you are reading 20/70 with your right eye and 20/50 with your left eye. In Texas, you would not be legally able to drive. If you see well (20/20) with your glasses, then you should wear your glasses when you can. If you can work without your glasses, then do it, only if you can safely work. Then you can use your glasses for driving and home use. Surgeons normally wont do LASIK unless your vision has not changed for 1+ years and you are over 18. Most surgeons what their patients to be 22-25 years old before they do the surgery. Good Luck to you

How bad is your vision?

Put on your glasses. Look around. Notice how things look. Now, take your glasses off. Look around. Notice how things look. The difference between with and without is how bad your vision is.

If you are interested in Lasik you can get a free evaluation here www.cheapsafelasik.com
