Is it normal to have permanent visible blood vessels in the sclera (whites) of t!

Question: Is it normal to have permanent visible blood vessels in the sclera (whites) of the eye?
My eyes always appear blood shot and eye drops do not help. My eye sight is fine but I'm not the best sleeper, would this be a cause? Any opthamologists out there?

Answers:

Yes, it is normal to have a white eye with normal blood vessels visible. The question is why type of eye drops are you using? If it is Visine or something that says "for red eyes or gets the red out" you could be having a reaction or overuse of the medication. Being tired and not having enough sleep could cause this, but it is not a normal reason.
I recommend artificial tears such as Systane Ultra, Soothe XP or dry eye therapy, or Blink. They dont have hard chemicals in them like Visine or other eye drops that claim to get the red out

if you mean little red lines in the corner of your eyes then i would say its pretty normal if nobody noticed them. If they appear blood shot then maybe you felt a change occured. Get an opinion from a specialist if you want.

If you were looking at magazines and see girls with crystal clear eyes its worth pointing out that they edit the photos to remove all the red in their eyes. This is because they want flawless faces to feature in advertisements

If you already knew that then sorry for stating the obvious

Smoking marijuana causes this. Stay put and a police officer has been dispatched to your address to ensure this isn't the case.

you probably have a tarigiam. They're common and harmless (unless they obstruct your vision).
