Can I put castor oil in my eyes for my dry eye condition?!

Question: Can I put castor oil in my eyes for my dry eye condition?
Answers:

astrobel82 may know his beaver glands, but he knows nothing about castor oil or where it comes from. LOL

Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean (technically castor seed as the castor plant, Ricinus communis, is not a member of the bean family). Castor oil (CAS number 8001-79-4) is a colorless to very pale yellow liquid with mild or no odor or taste. Its boiling point is 313 °C (595 °F) and its density is 961 kg/m3.[1] It is a triglyceride in which approximately ninety percent of fatty acid chains are ricinoleic acid. Oleic and linoleic acids are the other significant components.[2]

I'd check the bottle to see if what you have can actually be used in your eyes, and many versions of this oil, are not for medicinal use.

Dude, no. Just no.

You know where castor oil comes from. Anal scent glands on beavers. Allergan is a drug company that makes really good over-the-counter treatments and drops for chronic dry eye. Make a trip to the drug store.

I used to work for Allergan, and I know a lot about beavers.

Yes. I use it every night before bed, and have for years. This is the thing.. it is thick and so it blurs vision so it works best as a night time remedy. Also, if you use your finger to get it in your eye, you have to make certain your fingers are clean.

My dad uses an eye lubricant called systain and it works for his dry eyes try it on yours it is over the counter and you can buy it at walmart

was this a real question?
