That is the correct answer - Lifestyle, genes, these little games and junk food

These things do not influence your eyesight contrary to common myth. Its about your eyeball being the wrong shape which gets worse as you grow. I think you see more people wearing them these days as people have more smaller print to read and notice more if their eyesight is less than perfect. Also tests in school etc pick it up faster - I used to cheat on ones when I was in school so noone picked up the fact I had poor eyesight. glasses are also better so children are less likely to refuse to wear them or take them off most of the time - they used to be very ugly and uncomfortable and you coud expect to be teased and called names quite a bit if you had to wear them which is fortunatley less the case these days.

There are many reasons more and more people wear eyeglasses. First of all, think about this, if a child wears eye correction, there is a strong chance his/her children will wear eye correction too. With each generation, more and more children are born from parents that wear eye correction. Next, electronics with screens (i.e. computer, television, etc.) are being used more often then ever before. Overexposure to electronic screens can cause common eye problems. Finally, as you mentioned, diets. Many children and adults are no longer eating as healthy as in the past. This can cause common disorders such as diabetes which can lead to eye problems.

One of the reasons you see more children wearing glasses now a days is because parents now believe in preventative care and are bringing children in for eye exams at much younger ages. The American Optometric Association and Pediatric Ophthalmologists recommend that baby's first eye exam be at 6 month of age, then again at 1 year of age, 3 years old and just prior to entering first grade.

In addition, the general public is more aware of and has better access to eye care than they did years ago.

I hope this satisfies the fool who insists you need a site to know the proper answer.

because I'm guessing here~ thoughts from the past~ from a friend of mine, who wore glasses in grade school.~
She said she cheated on her eye exam, so she's get glasses! She thought they were "COOL" to be wearing them! lol
Personally, I'd say it's because the medical field checks children's eye site at a younger age, then waiting for children to attend school and find out they can't read the chalk board.
But I would go with you on the junk/processed food and eye strain from all the hand held games~ and now our children are being given "cell" phones? ~ what's next their own small battery charged "Cars" to run about town in? lmao!

Me = I want to wear glasses because I think it`s pretty cool, that`s why when I was in like, 6th grade I ttry so hard to have my eyes be a little blurd so i could wear eyeglasses without my classes saying i`m just wearing it for no reason. That`s why I read in dark places, hehe. But I kind of regret it, it`s hard seeing something in class even though I`m wearing glasses, it went high from 170 to like 250.

children's lifestyles may result in them wearing sunglasses. for example, playing games on the computer on television without taking breaks in between, watching television too closely, poor eating habits that is lacking in vitamin A, C, and E.

Its been proven that lifestyle changes, excessive near work, false evidence from people selling glasses and lack of outside activity all contribute to worse eyesight in todays children.

Probably because it can be hard to see, maybe possibly? But one of the reasons is(are?) because it can be hard to see

Because i wear glasses

It is true whenU SA Eskimo s were out in the field or tundra they could see very well at distance but now they are wearing eyeglasses. Reading or computers ????

Because they are too young to wear contact lenses or get Lasik surgery.

yep, i agree, junk food and some just want them to look "cool" i guess.
