Answers:

Lasik generally costs between $3000-$5000. Most Lasik clinics and many Lasik surgeons offer free evaluations. The most important thing one should do, is to investigate the Lasik surgeon and the procedure thoroughly prior to committing to this surgery. Lasik is irreversible, so you must make sure to pick the best surgeon you can find and be very sure you are a good candidate for this surgery. Not everyone is. My nephew had Lasik and suffers from just about every adverse side effect connected with Lasik. He can no longer work or drive. ,

No one should have this surgery until they are absolutely sure their vision has stabilized, usually in your early to mid twenties, give or take several years. If you have the surgery prior to total vision stabilization, you will have to have the surgery repeated. LASIK is considered cosmetic surgery, is not covered by health insurance and can be quite expensive. Lasik is irreversible. Lasik has only been in use for a little over ten years and the long term side effects are unknown.

Anyone committing to Lasik must be prepared to accept the risks and side effects that are associated with this surgery. Most people experience satisfactory to excellent post surgical results with an increase in visual acuity to between 20/20 to 20/40. The most common side effect for all Lasik patients is irreversible dry eyes. However, there is a small percentage (about 5%) who experience night blindness, halos, star bursts and loss of vision. These side-effects are usually permanent and often cause depression and loss of quality of life issues See "Sources" below for additional information on Lasik procedures and side effects

Lasik

Cost: In the US it costs about $3000 per surgery. In the UK it costs about £790 per surgery.
Healing time: Lasik takes about a week to heal and a month to heal completely.
Advantages: Freedom from glasses and perfect vision.
Risks: Halos, double vision, starbursts and night blindness, if the surgery goes well they don't happen though.

Good luck

First of all don't worry about the cost, you want someone who is very skilled and has a high percentage of successful surgeries and comes well reccomended by other doctors. You will only be paying for this once, but you will live with the results for the rest of your life. If you go to Billy Bob's beer, bait, ammo & drive-thru laser vision correction and they mess up your eyes, you can't just go out an buy another set!

Also, you didn't say how old you are, generally you can't even consider doing this until your vision has stopped getting worse, which usually is in your early 20's. Some people's vision never really stablizes. Personaly, I would never do Lasek myself, I'm totally OK with glasses. If you really, really HATE wearing glasses (and can't use contacts) it might be an option for you. Most of the places that do it will give a free initial consultation, so ask a LOT of questions.

Also, maybe you just need to get some new, cool looking designer glasses, there are tons of great frames available on line.

I had my lasik surgery last May. That's my reason too to get rid of the glasses, because I really love playing sports especially basketball. I'm in the Philippines the cost here is P60k if I make that to USD then it's like $1.5k. The healing process for me was 2 hours after the irritation of my eyes. Yes 2 hours I said that because while I'm on the taxi I can clearly see the plate number of the vehicle in front of us. It completely healed 24 hours and my vision now is 20-25 left-right before it was 700-800. After my eyes completely healed there's nothing bad happened in my eyes. I'm 17 btw and I know my eyes could be bad again but not as bad as before.
