New glasses are disorienting..?!

Question: New glasses are disorienting..?
A week ago I bought new glasses. The prescription had changed by a small amount and I no longer had a astigmatism. The frames I ended up getting were slightly more in a square shape and slightly larger than my previous frames.
It has been abour 6 days and while I can definitely tell a improved difference, I am still slightly disoriented when wearing them (not near as bad as I was the first 3 days though). I guess my question is this normal? Can no longer having an astigmatism, larger frames and a slightly changed (my eyes actually got better, not worse) prescription cause an extended adjustment period? Thanks

Answers:

This is very common when wearing new glasses it can take up to a month to get used to it or as little as two days. As far as I know Astigmatism can only be cured by Laser Eye Surgery or using Ortho-K lenses which reshape your eye's cornea - getting rid of the Astigmatism

I'm not an expert on eyes, but since no one has answered your question, I wanted to try and help based on what I do know. First, the astigmatism: I entered into a search engine if astigmatisms can be cured on their own, and the results are sort of mixed (no reliable sources but websites do say you can cure it). So I guess it does seem possible that it went away on its own.

I am sure the size and shape of your glasses/lenses has no effect on your vision--what's important is what you're looking through, so they'd have to mess up the lens itself.

Now, I've frequently been told by doctors that an adjustment period is normal; in fact, I went through one a few months ago when I got my new set of glasses (my correction strength went from a 4.25 to a 6, which is pretty large). It took me nearly a week before I stopped getting that sick feeling. What I found weird was that one pair of glasses made me more sick (which I think is what you're suggesting by the frames being different). However, I took a night off and went back to my old glasses while just at home, and the next morning, I stopped having problems. It could have been that I just waited long enough or my eyes were glad to have the right amount of correction in the lenses.

Either way, it is totally normal for eyes to change, and I know that adjustment times can take a matter of days. If you aren't feeling better in the next day or two, though, I really would recommend you go back to your doctor--they have to fix the problem, right? (I would hope.)
