6/12 means that you need to be 6 metres away from something that an average eye can see from 12 metres. It is ok vision. You may need glasses for driving.

That simply means you have to be at 6 meters to see detail that a normal eye can see at 12 meters away.
6/12 is borderline for needing glasses for driving.
