Eyeglasses - Can a bad prescription glasses affect your mood?!

Question: Eyeglasses - Can a bad prescription glasses affect your mood?
I've been wearing these eyeglasses that have old prescription glasses for a while. I finally ordered new ones two days ago. I am wondering if 2 diopters difference than the right prescription might cause you feel sleepy, lethargic all the time. I always noticed that whenever I wear my contact lenses that has the right prescription, I have a totally different amount of energy than when I wear my old prescription glasses.

I can't wait for my new eyeglasses to arrive!

Yes, absolutely. 2 diopters is a huge difference.

Yes, the wrong prescription-especially 2 diopters off- will cause disorientation and dizziness. Both affect your mood, make you lethargic and tired. Straining to gain proper focus can also cause headaches.
Glad you finally ordered new glasses.

Experience. The only remedy for me was to have lasik surgery after suffering the same symptoms you listed.

I always feel more energetic in my contacts even if the perscription isn't as good as that in my glasses . This must be purely a thing in the mind. I'd agree though that when needing a new stronger perscription I tend to feel a bit down and not up to much. Not being able to get clear vision has a very negative effect on my mood. I don't think its a physical thing though, just the way one feels about the world , like being miserable on a grey day.

I suppose the strain of trying to see clearly with such an out dated prescription could cause tiredness and those other symptoms.

Your brain is working overtime to try and clear up the blurrier image it is receiving, so it makes sense.

Those symptoms are your brains way of telling you something is wrong.

why are you wearing glasses that are too strong? i expect you can't see very well which is why you will feel less than top of the world. if you can afford to buy new ones i recommend that you do!

I think it can. I wear contacts and a day when I have discomfort or irritation certainly makes me feel less than cheerful! Headaches from not wearing contacts or glasses has the same effect.

It can cause you to lose interest in reading and anything that requires focus. Your subconscious will defer you to other things because your mind "knows" you are struggling to see.
