Question: Hey, If I went to an opticians for an eye test. Could I ask to have a prescription that allows me to see 20/20?

Nobody should EVER be corrected to 20/10 unless there are very specific and important reasons such as safety when doing a special acitvity (flying, driving by night and so on). Not only you can ask for a 20/20 correction, you must demand it, and if they refuse, go to another optician.
20/10 , 6/4, and so on, are dangerous overcorrections which can make eyesight worse especially in young people.

Just tell them you feel your glasses are a bit too strong. You may be a bit over corrected.

For most people 20/20 wouldn't be good enough if they are capable of 20/15 or better.

They can probably reduce the power slightly and you would still have 20/10 but not feel strained.

20/10 is normal for some people, 20/15 is normal for others .

Optician

You go to an optometrist or ophthalmologist for an eye test, and to an optician for the glasses.

So no, you cannot ask the Optician, but you CAN ask your doctor for the weaker prescription, and explain why.
