why does my friend with the same prescription see better without glasses than i !

Question: Why does my friend with the same prescription see better without glasses than i do?
my friend at work and i have exactly the same prescription (-1.75) but she can see much better with me when she doesn't have her glasses on. i find i need to wear them to see anything that's more than about 6 feet away but she only wears hers for driving. if the weather is bad or dark then i even feel i need them inside the house. how can we both have the same prescription but supposedly see very differently - is there a scientific explanation for this?

She is simply not used to wear them constantly. Fo some reason she never started wearing them all the day and therefore her eyes and her brain never adapted to the constant aid of glasses. If she started wearing them from morning to night, after a few days or weeks she would be in the same situation as you are now. In other words, the less one wears glasses, the better.

I agree with foot print

some people have a higher tolerance of seeing blurry or they are just used to noe seeing things as crisp therefore they believe they don't require the contacts or glasses. When I go a whole week withOUT wearing my contacts or glass it doesn't bother me but for example I have been wearing my contact for 5 days straight and today that I did not wear them I felt Absolutely blind. That's because when I dont wear my contacts on a regular basis I forget what a nice crisp vision is like.

Uncorrected vision depends on many factors, only one of which is prescription. Eye factors such as pupil size, corneal topography, retinal light receptor distribution, lens clarity and eye optical abberations; perceptual factors such as blur interpretation, willingness to guess; brain cortical factors such as speed of processing also affect uncorrected vision.

Those other factors result in worse uncorrected vision for you.

Some people have a much higher tolerance for blur.

She isn't really seeing much better than you, but it doesn't bother her as much to not have crisp clear vision.

By not wearing them as much, her brain is working harder to decipher the blurry image it is receiving , and she is used to that.
