Question: Laser Eye Surgery Question?
Is it completely safe? Are there any side effects or any cases of negative effects due to the surgery?

Thanks in advance

My husband had both eyes done about six years ago and it was very successful. The only side effect is that night driving is a little more difficult as there is an increased tendency to be dazzled. But against that you don't need to wear glasses, so no raindrops, and no steaming up. The operation only corrects for defects you were born with - it does not prevent the loss of accommodation we all get with increasing age, so you will probably eventually need reading glasses. If you make an appointment to discuss whether the op would suit you they give you very full information with details of all the risks and there is ample opportunity to withdraw if you lose your nerve or decide you don't want to go ahead, even at the very last minute. He would recommend it wholeheartedly, having had the joy of being released from his thick glasses that he had worn since he was a child.

Laser surgery is, for the most part, effective and safe. No surgery is COMPLETELY safe. However, precautions are taken to ensure the safety of the patient.

The most common post-surgery side effects are blurred vision for a short amount of time, and a scratchy feeling in the eyes. This will subside within a few days to a little more than a week.

With any surgery, there are cases in which it goes wrong, however these are extremely rare and laser surgery is considered a safe alternative to glasses and contacts.

No, it is not "completely safe". No surgical procedure is "completely safe". There is always a risk.

The most common side effect is that you may still need to wear glasses, as the correction isn't always 100% accurate. Other known side effects are scarring of the eye tissue, permanent blurring and in rare cases, loss of sight.

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk, even if it was free (and it isn't - you have to pay to take the risk).

Being the well cared for client that you are, i would like to use this opportunity to mention the many examples of websites that provide FALSE and misleading information and advice online. These sites are noticeable by their suggetion that eyesight improvement can be achieved by "natural methods". The whole idea of this is completely 100% untrue. These sites only exist to work as a trick to lower your guard and for you to part with cash in exchange for getting an "opportunity" to improve your natural vision.

Let me put it this way. If one person was proven to improve their vision by these methods then why does everyone still wear glasses?
So if you do get advice that conflicts with that said by your trusted eye doctor then please immediately inform your local authorities of the nature of the scam

often laser eye surgery can lead to small blind spots in your eyes, at the point the laser impacted. These often don't cause much issue to the average person, as your mind fills in the gaps, but it can get quite serious, and if you have an adverse reaction temporary blindness is possible.

As with any surgery, there are risks involved.1 thing that is almost gaurenteed,is that later in life you WILL need glases for short sightedness.

Looked into it myself and know 1 person who's had it done

No surgery is 100% safe.
It doesn't work for everyone but it did for me - fantastic.

The only side affect that could be really bad would be Permanent Blindness by the laser...
