Having suffered from nearsightedness?!

Question: Having suffered from nearsightedness?
Hi, I've suffered from bad eyesight, that kept me from being able to read. So I'm sort of illiterate. I know that wearing glasses has helped me - and I once interviewed some people that have glasses. One man said he doesn't plan on getting Lasik one day (I know a lady that got Lasik eye surgery, our relative) but is fine with wearing glasses. Could anyone give advice regarding eyesight? And by the way, don't do the bates method and tell people to take off their glasses. That's just not common sense. Also, why are glasses so expensive? I heard someone say, that if you go to Sears optical, you can get two for 100 dollars, one for 50. And the most expensive would be an Armani, with polycarbonate AR and transitions, all the way around 500 dollars, depends on where you shop for them - and it would be somewhere in between those two price tags for glasses.

I read in the bible, Isaac was blind and couldn't see that well, knowing Jacob from Esau. Maybe because they didn't have glasses back then.

In fact, they didn't have a lot of things back then. Which is why very few people throughout history had no problems going through life. In fact, nowadays, we struggle with our self-esteem, that is, you know you're less than nothing. Think of all the casualties of war. Every soldier killed was just like you and me, he's nothing, basically. So are you, my friend. And so is me.

Anyone on opinions on a sufferer of bad eyesight?

Answers:

Your post is a little rambling, but I will do my best to answer your main point. I am extremely nearsighted. I have -11 prescription. If I wear glasses, I look like a fool. They are so thick and have this shrinking effect on my head and eyes. I choose to wear contacts. It is inconvenient sometimes because I have difficulty reading really small print because I can't focus on things really close to my face with my lenses in.

In the past, people with really bad eyesight had lots of problems. If they were not from rich families, it could end up being their death as they could not easily work and earn a living. If I had been born a few hundred years ago with this vision it would have been very tough indeed.
