The first thing you have to do is use undercorrections (i.e. weaker glasses) when looking at something very close , for example books, computer and so on. Your 6.50 glasses or contacts are too strong for such a short distance and that causes your eyesight to get worse . Instead of 6.50 you should use 5.00 when distance is very short . That will help you stop the worsening of your eyesight but it won't be enough to improve it. If you want to improve I strongly recommend you to go to a behavioural optometrist. They are eye-doctors who have a different approach to eyesight problem. Regular optometrists simply give you stronger glasses as your vision gets worse because that's all they know. Behavioural optometrists do not simply give you glasses, they also teach you how and when to use undercorrections, they teach you exercises to improve eyesight and other rules regarding the health of your eyes and therefore of your eyesight. In other words behavioural optometrists try to help your eyesight, they do not just helplessly witness the constant decline of your vision as regular optometrists would do.

Aside from stopping growing, there really isn't anything that can be done.

As long as your eyes are healthy and you see well with your glasses, you have nothing to worry about.

By the time your vision settles down , usually by the mid 20's there may be many more advancements in simple surgery that will be able to do wonders for you.

Contacts would probably be a good choice for you soon also.

Good luck, and just keep in mind, there are plenty who are worse off than that at your age..so in a way , you are still lucky if you have good vision with glasses on.

I'd just like to add to what Footprin has said that I know its really worrying at 14 when this happens. I used to spend a lot of time worrying about this , but getting contacts made a huge difference to me. Also I had only slightly less bad eyesight at your age and in my 50's I still have no problem seeing with glasses or contacts adn teh improvements in what can be done have changed things out of all recognition.

You cannot go blind from a refractive error, so you are not going blind. Depends what you mean by 6.50 if it is a +6.50 your eyesight will get better till your about 22 and then will stop changing. If it is a - your eyesight will get worse till 22 then stop changing. You will not get blind from having a prescription though.

Good luck
