Glasses Lens Thickness?!

Question: Glasses Lens Thickness?
I am looking to get a new pair of glasses however I am running short on cash
because of this, I am looking to get cheaper lenses, probably the plastic. However I have a pretty strong prescription with one eye being -6.50 and am worried how thick the lenses would be. I am not going to wear the glasses all the time so I don't mind them being too thick and I definitely want the basic plastic. Can anyone find me a picture of how distorted my eyes would look with the thick, plastic lens glasses?

A regular plastic lens in - 6.50 will be VERY thick.

How thick is impossible to say , it depends on the frame size you choose and how wide you are between your pupils...but you can be sure, no matter what frame you choose, they will be thick anyway.

Because of the bad edge thickness those lenses will have, you will be getting an awful lot of distortion when you look even a little bit sideways.

It would be well worth it to wait until you can invest a bit more into better lenses . With that power you definitely need high index lenses. Shop around, some places have really good prices on hi index lenses
