Medical help with eyes?!

Question: Medical help with eyes?
Okay, so I've had a cold, or possibly the flu (I did not get my vaccine yet) over the last few days, and I have a violent cough that has settled in my chest, runny/stuffy nose, gagging, occasional sneezing, and I vomited on 2 separate days, the first relatively mild, the second relatively bad. I missed school yesterday, and I was contemplating whether or not I should go today. Well, earlier yesterday, my little sister pointed out that a patch of my left eye was bloodshot red, just a patch a little more down into my eye, so it is somewhat concealed by my lower eyelid. Just that one area, the rest of the eye remains pretty much white, and the other eye is unscathed. It stung a little initially, and was watery throughout the day, but now it seems a little dryer than my right eye. My cold or flu still remains, and I am still coughing and gagging with my runny/stuffy nose. I've been taking medicine, drinking OJ and eating Campbell's chicken noodle soup. Everything seems to be subsiding at a slow, but stable pace and the only new thing that sprung up was the problem with my eye. Is this something I should go to a doctor for or will this just eventually subside? I hope this all subsides by Thanksgiving day which is dreadfully close. Note that although that bit of my left eye is really red and bloodshot, my vision has not degraded, it is not sensitive to light, it was relatively watery, but now it seems slightly drier than the other, unaffected eye, pains happened initially, but were only minor stings. Please tell me what you think this condition is, and advise me on what to do. Thanks for the help.

Answers:

Hemorrhage. Most likely when you vomited, you put pressure on your eyes and you've popped a blood vessel or two. Probably nothing to worry about. Watch the red spot and it should go away. Cold compresses 4 to 5 times a day will help clear it up faster. If it doesn't clear up or start to clear up within 24 hours, or gets worse, then see an optometrist or your doctor but I am pretty certain things will begin to clear up for you rather soon.

Good luck to you. Keep eating that chicken soup (an "old wives tale" but researchers have actually found it to be beneficial in helping to recover from illness).
