Hard lens contacts questions?!

Question: Hard lens contacts questions?
I have had my hard lens contacts for a while I have been wearing them for about a month, 5 days a week for 8 hours everyday I wear them, but I still cant get use to them. So I stopped wearing them. My eye dr. says hard lens arent for everyone, but if I want contacts I have to wear hard lens because my prescription isnt available in soft lens.
So will it get better? Will my eyes get use to them?

And my eye doctor can get a prescription for my right eye in soft lenses but not my left eye.
So would it be okay if I wear a hard lens in my left eye and a soft lens in my right eye? Because I find it easier to wear one hard lens then two.

Also is it okay to wear my hard contacts under my soft lenses? I have put my hard contact in my eye and my soft lens over it and they dont feel uncomfortable at all, i only want to do this because I want to wear my colored lenses but be able to see.

Thanks, sorry for so many questions.

I used to wear hard contacts and then RGP's. they are hard to wear in and I'd say it takes longer than a month. Also I think you really have to wear them every day to get them comfortable and if you have to leave them out the odd day you can't expect them to be immediately comfortable when you put them back in. In my experience they weren't ever as comfortable as soft contact lenses although it does pay to make sure you clean them properly - its not as easy as it is with soft contacts. I moved to soft when they became available in my perscription - keep your fingers crossed they might progress to yours at some point. Having said this I was very happy with my hard contacts although I would say i was always aware of them being in my eye. Try wearing them in more gradually - I did it starting at 1/4 hour and working up by 1/4 hour every other day. I reckon it was a good 3 months before they felt comfortable though adn you can't afford to miss a day. ITs motivation as much as anything .

Just because you are able to stack one contact over the other, does not mean you should. I'm sure what you are calling hard contacts are actually gas permeable (GP) contact lenses, also known as RGPs, rigid gas permeable, or oxygen permeable lenses, which allow some oxygen to get to your cornea, where an actual hard contact, would not.

Putting another contact on top of an RGP contact, would stop any oxygen from getting to your cornea, and since the cornea is the only organ in the body, that does not get oxygen from your blood stream, this is a BAD THING and in the end will cause more problems and may make it so you are unable to wear contacts forever due to damage caused by lack of oxygen.

So no for the health of your eyes, you can not stack one contact on top of another contact, and wear it, no matter how it feels, or how well you see with them stacked like that.
