Causes of dry eyes? Can it be fixed?!

Question: Causes of dry eyes? Can it be fixed?
In my life I've never had a problem with my eyes. I had an astigmatism and have glasses, but my vision isn't terrible I can read things without them but they help my eyes see small details so I don't have to strain. Just this summer I bought cosmetic lenses; specifically circle lenses. I wasn't aware that they could be a potential harm. I wore them on occasion, but it was not an every day thing. My eyes felt okay, but when I got an eye infection they must have been a little more vulnerable. I disposed of them vowing never to do that again.

Since then for the past couple months I started having eye problems. Sensitivity to light, the feeling od aching eyes, pressure. I would sometimes see colors or small flashes of light occasionly. When I woke up things took longer to focus in or colors would look weird until my eyes reajusted. It's something I didn't want to live with. I got a fresher pair of glasses, and prescribed eye drops, but the feeling persisted. Then I went to my local doctor he told me that my eyes veins looked dialated or something. He sent me to a specialist who told me everything looked fine besides the fact he noticed my eyes were very dry. He said people with dry eyes don't know that they're dry but felt the symptoms I had except for the color bit (which doesn't happen often).

I have a bad feeling that the dryness of eyes is a result from an inury from the contact lenses. One day after not even wearing them they got infected and I had swollen corneas that's where the problems all started. I'm on eye drops and jell when I go to bed and will report back to the specialist in two weeks. Is there anyway to fix the dryness?

A message to everyone who is interested in cosmetic contact lenses, while many people can use them for a bit and be fine anything can happen. Your eyes are your most important things. People often wonder if contact can hurt your eyes and many differences in the argument can be seen. From me I can tell you that I'm learning the hard way and that eye doctors are the only way to go. I'm lucky I'm not blind.

If anyone can give me information about this I would appreciate it. I don't really want to be stuck putting stuff in my eyes everyday.

You may find that your eyes will heal more over time. Make sure you eat properly and drink enough - looking after your body means it has more chance to heal itself and if you dehydrate your eyes get drier. I have found that when I've been ill that it has taken time for my eyes to get back to normal and my wearing time to go up and it could be the same with an eye infection. Good luck to you and hopefully more of the people who want to buy cosmetic lenses off teh shelf will read this.
