What is the best way for an 11 year old to put in contacts?!
Question: What is the best way for an 11 year old to put in contacts?
Answers:
I hope they at least tried to train her at the doctors office!?
I'm an eye doctor and it sounds to me she is not ready yet. I agree with another poster that you should maybe try again in a few months. You'd be surprised what a difference a few months can make. In the mean time, I would try sitting down with her and get her used to handling her lids (no eye touching) and see if that helps a little. Once she gets comfy with that, maybe try having her touch the white of her eye, with clean hands!, with just the tip of her finger. Once shes comfy with that THEN maybe try the contacts again. If you're going to use the same contacts you were given initially, I would change the solution out about once every two weeks at least and make sure the caps are down VERY tight while you store them for her. I also agree that you may want to go back to the doctor for another lesson as well.
Me.
I would say that if after 3 days of trying, she won't hold her eye open...and isn't learning by watching you , put the contacts away...she isn't ready yet.
The only way for an 11 year old is the same way everyone else does it.
How come she wasn't shown how at the Dr's office ?
If they are contacts you bought from somewhere else besides an eyecare professional , then she is probably better off not getting them in.
If they DID come from an Optometrist or an Optician , she needs to go back to them for another lesson in how to do it correctly.
Optician
do it when shes sleeping
