Can rubbing your eye with the bony part of your wrist cause a retinal tear/detac!

Question: Can rubbing your eye with the bony part of your wrist cause a retinal tear/detachment?
I do it that way because i don't want to rub my eye with my dirty fingers.

Answers:

Retinal detachments can be caused by just about anything. Many people get them for no reason at all.

However, rubbing your eyes is highly unlikely to cause that.

Symptoms of retinal detachment:
Many new or sudden floaters
Flashes or streaks of light
The feeling that a curtain or veil is being pulled down over your vision.

If you have symptoms like above, I would be seen by an eye doctor asap.

No, you are rubbing the front of your eye...the retina is at the back....no connection.
