Getting Crazy Contacts Online, with a Prescription?!

Question: Getting Crazy Contacts Online, with a Prescription?
I really want to get some of those custom contacts that have different designs. I don't necessarily want to go to an eye doctor to get them, but rather online. I would love to get them cheap, preferably under $50.. whether it's just one contact lens for one eye or both. I do have an astigmatism. My eye is supposedly shaped a bit differently, so.. would this be a problem in getting contacts online?
All the information I know on my current contact prescription is the power in each eye and whatever CYL means? as well as axis? I'm just getting this off of my contact lens boxes. If you can help me into maybe getting some from a site, or.. just plain give me more information, I would gladly appreciate it!! Thank you!

Answers:

First off, CYL = cylinder. You probably have SPH (spherical) as well as axis, diameter and base curve involved in your contact lens Rx.

I work in an eye doctor's office and I have astigmatism. I have to get lenses called "Toric" because of the astigmatism. The brand called Wild Eyes doesn't have Toric lenses, so your vision will not be good. I was told I could not get these lenses due to my Rx.

I would recommend calling a local eye doctor's office that sells Wild Eyes or similar contacts & see if you can get a helpful person on the phone. Ask them if they accept outside prescriptions for contacts, and if your Rx is available in the special FX lenses.

Or....you can email that question to any of the online discount lens places that carry special FX or Wild Eyes lenses. Just make sure they have a good lens return policy if they do not work for you!

If you have astigmatism (CYL and AXIS are also part of the astigmatic prescription), you won't be able to find sfx contacts. Sfx contacts can be plano (0.00) or be combined with myopia (-) or hypermetropia (+). There are some colored contacts that are torics but they don't have special effects and they are simple (green, blue, brown, grey colors).

Also, not having an eye test is really bad. Whatever you ordering for your eyes, must be fitted by a professional, whether he is an ophthalmologist, optometrist or optician.
