Unfortunately it's perfectly normal. You were in the hands of really bad doctors who just wanted your money and knew very well what would happen to you after a few years. Everybody with a little knowledge on this matter knows that laser eye-surgery at 18 is absurd. The reason is that eyesight tends to get worse well into one's 20s, sometimes even late 20s. Surgery is not a cure at all and it doesn't change the evolution of a vision problem. That's why it's absolutely necessary to wait until a person is in his/her mid 20's before doing surgery. If it's done too early , there's an extremely high risk of having bad eyesight again within a few years or even a few months. Laser eye-surgery is a risky procedure and it's not advisable to do it more than once. Consider yourself lucky you didn't have any major problems.

Unfortunately night-blindness is one of the irreversible side effects of this surgery. At 18, your vision probably had not been stable for two years prior to having Lasik, therefore the clinic or lasik surgeon should have deemed you a bad candidate for Lasik and not preformed the surgery on you. Most post lasik patients suffer visual problem or changes within a few months or even days of having Lasik. Therefore, I believe your decreased vision may have been caused by a visual decrease that would have occurred normally, because your vision was not stabilized.

You need to make an appointment with an ophthalmologist, preferably a Cornea Specialist for a comprehensive eye exam to see if the night blindness is correctable or if any other damage has been done to your eye or if there is anything you can do to prevent further problems.

You ought to try to track down the clinic owners or surgeon and sue them. Try to find out if they were shut down for malpractice and if there is a class action suit. Try going through American Academy of Ophthalmologists or just try locating the surgeon. If his license wasn't revoked, he's probably practicing elsewhere.

the rate of deterioration on vision varies according to the individual, your eyesight will degrade naturally with age, that's why the strength of your eye lens increase in time, i recommend you see an optometrist to see if eye surgery is the best course of treatment for you

You really just need to get an eye exam. It is possible that your eyes have changed and you need to wear glasses to drive at night. It is normal to have some decrease in night vision after LASIK. It is also possible there is something else wrong with your eyes. Get it checked out.

You should of not done it at 18, you need to do it at at least 22, you might need a re-enhancement or you might suffer from one of the side effects of lasik which is night-blindness, which is permanent.
Sorry to disappoint you.

Good luck

Eye care specialist.

i had lasik on one eye for reading; i use a .5 or a 1.00 magnification for other eye when driving at night. it helps me with night vision.
