HELP!!! are contacts hard to get in?!

Question: HELP!!! are contacts hard to get in?
ok so i went to the eye doctor and he had me try putting in contact lenses. i tried and tried and tried but could not do it (i think i couldnt do it because i was scared to touch my eye and if i got it in that i wouldnt be able to get it out. is this normal; to be scared and all?) i was prob trying for half an hour. the doctor gave in and just put them in for me. then i tried getting them out but couldnt do that either. he had to take them out too. i am kinda nervous to go back and try again. how hard s it to get them in and out? and tell me how long it took you on your first try. tips and pointers would be nice too. thanks!!!

The first time i tried i couldn't get them in the second time i went there it took about 5 mins to get them in. Here are a few tips always use a mirror when putting them in or taking them out it makes it a lot easier!, place the contact in your dominant hand on the finger closest to the thumb and use your other hand to hold open your top eyelid (do this for both eyes), to get them out you can either pinch the contact lense or you can slide the contact to the bottom of your eye and grab it. Doctors say that it is good practice to practice pooking your eye before you get contacts to get you used to touching your eye. Here's some good information to know your doctor will probably tell you this too but anyways mke sure you wash your hands before putting them in or taking them out, change solution everyday, do not wear if ripped or toren can give you eye infection or pink eye. Hope I helped a little. Good Luck! :)

me. Ive had contacts for about 2 years now

it took me a half hour too the first time and I would alway flinch and then the doctor had to take it out for me, now I can put them in without looking. the trick to get started is to try to forget your touching your eye and that it wont actually hurt you to do that, and to hold your eyelids open with one hand while putting the contact in with the other. Getting it out is scary at first, just remember to pinch slightly around the contact and it will come out easy

they are if you are a noob,,,, you won't get good at putting them in unless you practice by putting them in every morning and out at night

It took me almost the whole time they gave me. I was really nervous. Use the mirror and make sure you trim your nails, it makes it so much easier and more comfortable for me.

I use this same way, but she described it better:
"If they are well lubricated and your eye is too, just hold your eyes open with your pointer finger and thumb (pointer on top eye lid, thumb on lower eye lid) as wide as you can get it and put your contact on the end of your finger and gently place it on your eye.

Slowly let your eye relax and blink a few times to get it situated.

To remove them, use the thumb pointer finger tactic vut use the same two fingers on the opposite hand to "pinch" the contact our (just grab and pull the contact out of your eye)."

Its a learned skill. Most people take a month to become really skilled and everyone is nervous the first time. The first thing to realize is that you DO NOT TOUCH YOUR EYE. Its only the lens touches teh eye and as it gets to the right place it automatically sits correctly.

First thing to do is relax. For the right lens ( try right first if you are right handed, its slightly easier I find to do your best hand) hold your upper eyelid using the 2nd finger from the thumb of your left hand and the bottom one with the same finger of the rigth hand. Practice that in front of a mirror before you go back. Now when you have the lens it goes onto the middle of the finger next to your thumb. The trick here is to bring the finger towards your eye without the lens slipping off the centre. If it does that then it deforms and doesn't go onto your eye. Once its flat that is that you have to reposition it. I find it helps to look down and bring my face most of the way towards the finger rather bring the finger up vertically as the lens is less prone to slip. Everyone has their own favourite techniques though. Once the lens is on the eye keep holding your eyelids for a few seconds until the lens settles into place.

Now taking them out - opticians teach the pinch method these days , I'm not a fan though. I think its best if you hold your eyelids open as for the above. Then for your right eye use the finger next to the thumb to move the lens to the outer corner of the eye whilst looking towards your nose . If you look towards your nose and move the lens the lens is off the part of the eye it fits and then as it comes towards the outer corner you can pinch it off with your thumb and the finger next to it. It helps to get your eyes lubricated if they have become dry.

A lot of it is about relaxing - try some relaxation exercises before you go , and also if you can take someone with you who will keep you relaxed it'll help. Its a bit scary being with someone waiting for you to do something. Bit like an exam really.
