i don't see why you wouldn't be able to. if your doctor says no then he/she is probably just trying to make an extra buck...

Normally you can re-use eyeglass frames if they are still OK, that is quite commonly done. However, if the frames you are talking about are drugstore reading glasses frames, they usually are not good enough for or incompatible with real eyeglass lenses, maybe that is why they are saying you can't do it?

In the state where I live the optometrist is required to give you the prescription if you ask. Without asking they frequently don't because they want the additional business of selling the glasses.

With the prescription, any other place will be happy to sell you the lenses.

Sure it works that way. Lots of people keep their own frames for a 2nd and 3rd time to get just the lenses replaced.

If your Dr. won't do it, just ask for your prescription and go to any optical store...they will do it as long as your frame is in good condition.
