Spending too much time on the computer is surely harmful. Try to spend less time on it and when you use it take a break every 20/25 minutes and look very far away for a couple of minutes (out of a window for example).

Hours at a time on the computer without lots of short breaks can cause eye strain , which can cause all kinds of strange things to happen. Your brain is telling you to stop for awhile.

Get in the habit of looking away from the screen every few minutes, just for a minute, to look around the room or out a window, to let your eyes refocus at a distance object.

Your eyes get locked into focusing up close, and that can be very tiring.

Use computer time wisely with lots of short breaks from the screen and you will be fine. If you have a desktop, try and keep your monitor at least 28 inches away so your eyes aren't forcing so much to focus continually up close.

If you have a laptop, you need many more breaks because you can't get the screen far enough away.

The black spot could have been a floater that sunk to the bottom of your eye and is no longer visible. It could have been a tiny fly on or in the computer screen. Yes, you can get tiny bugs inside the computer. Excessive computer use can cause temporary eye strain which can distort Vision and cause blurry vision, but does not permanently effect your vision. I certainly wouldn't worry about one black spot that you saw for a second, unless it start to happen very frequently.

i got nearsighted from being on a laptop all the time. Be careful with using the computer as it can cause people to need glasses/contax. So many young people now are nearsighted. Why? Computers and all sorts of near work. Be careful. Take breaks to prevent glasses wear, something I didn't do so that now I'm stuck with glasses.
