About how long does it take to get used to contacts?!

Question: About how long does it take to get used to contacts?
I just got contact lenses this morning (my wife forced me to try them). After about two hours my eyes felt dreadfully dry (they still are) and I had to blink every second (and I still do) and am in extreme discomfort. I took them out and am wearing my glasses again, but I'll try wearing them again tomorrow. I'm just asking, did any of you have a similar experience? If so, how long did it take you to get used to them? Thanks.

If you are wearing soft lenses, there is something wrong with your fit and you need to try another kind. If you are wearing rigid lenses, you will need to build up your wear time.

it took me about 2 weeks to get used to mine. and they still sometimes get dry. if they do i put in reweting drops, you can buy them at stores like target, walmart, that sort of thing. they may switch you to a different lens if you are still uncomfortable. they may be too thick or something. i had to try 6 different kinds!

it took me 30 minutes just to put 1 contact in when i first got them. ive had my contacts for almost a year now and i just recently got use 2 wearing them. i sometimes forget that i even wear them. i had the same problem. my eyes still dry out. i had to buy some visine contact relief to use while my contacts were in. i leave my contacts in and dont take them out unless i am putting in new ones. good luck ;)

One of my friends started wearing them and loved them rigth away, so another decided to try and she hated contacts and never wore them again. I guess it depends. Your wife shouldn't have forced you, though. I'm glad you're giving it another try, though, a lot of people just give up.

I would go back to your doctor and change the brand of contacts because you should not be feeling any discomfort after two hours of wearing time.
