Computer glasses vs reading glasses?!

Question: Computer glasses vs reading glasses?
So my doctor prescribed me +1.00 glasses for computer work WITHOUT any fancy features like anti-glare or any tint, etc.

Could I get +1.00 reading glasses from the counter, would they do the same job?

Any lens/glasses with a strength of +1.00 would do the same job. The cheapest glasses sometimes have flaws with the lenses being inaccurately lined up. This would undermine your vision and possibly cause headaches.

If you want, you can add the anti-glare and tint at www.replacementlensexpress.com. I remember that tint is $12 (any color, any opacity) but I don't remember about the anti-glare. Maybe $25?

You can either send in your current lenses to have these changes made, or start from scratch and get new ones made - reading glasses are $25 for the prescription. I believe that computer glasses are technically trifocals? Not sure though. Contact their optician at info@replacementlensexpress.com. I found him to be very helpful in me making my selection.

+1 is the same whatever glasses you get if its the same for both eyes. The difference with perscription frames would tend to be that the frames are more comfortable and the lenses of better quality. Do you actually have any jproblems reading your computer screen? If not I'm not sure I'd bother and I'd certainly try with something cheap first. Without anti-glare coatings its my experience that looking at computer screens with glasses can cause more eyestrain , particularly if teh lighting in the roon isn't ideal. When anti-glare coats came out I found it made quite a bit of difference.

Computer glasses without an anti glare coating are just going to cause more problems.

Untreated lenses will just be giving you a lot of tiring glare that you don't get without glasses on. Glare doesn't come from the screen...glare happens on the surface of the lenses.

So, untreated lenses are kind of defeating the purpose.
