I look terrible in glasses?!

Question: I look terrible in glasses?
ok i had glasses since 5th grade, i never really cared but now im in 8th grade and now im starting to wear makeup and hair, and stuff, and i look REALLY bad in them! I asked if i can get contacts and my parents sayed not til im like 18! And they will deffinetly wont let me get LASEK. I look WAY better without glasses and with glasses it pushes up my sidebangs and it looks terrible, and with makeup it looks bad too, and if i dont wear makeup it looks worse with glasses... and i cant just stop wearing them cuz i cant see ANYTHING without them, wat can i do??

Answers:

you need glasses so that's it - but some shapes can be wrong for your face. I look awful in round ones but rectangular ones work. Try some different ones on.

LASEK is a bad idea for teenagers as your prescription isn't stable. Contacts are a possible but you need to be responsible enough to look after them.

well you have to make sure that you choose the right classes for you, and spend time looking at ones that flatter your face otherwise anybody would look bad in glasses (next time you get new ones of course)! Another thing you can do is that if you can find a pair of old glasses at a garage sale or thrift store you can usually ask the place that makes your glasses to make lenses for them, that way it's a lot less inexpensive.

for makeup, you have to wear a little more (not too much!!!!!) or at least i do, and i have glasses. otherwise, dont worry about it, cause if you cant fix it right away then just let it be.

good luck!

You should stop wearing makeup, and I have glasses myself, I look wayyyyy nicer without makeup so you should try doing experiments with your face :D

you need help

As other contributors have said it does help to get glasses which suit you and get a hair style which matches. I doubt you look bad in them but you probably dont' look like the person you feel yourself to be. Its a shame your parents wont let you have contacts - its not true you cant' do most sports in them as one poster has said. I don't know of any sports contacts arent' better for.

Have your parents given any reasons for this ? Perhaps the money is an issue in which case you could offer to get a part-time job or go without something else? Try finding out why. Contacts aren't just a matter of appearance , they give you better all round vision , are better for sports and don't have disadvantages when you are outside in wet weather. these days people get contacts at 13 or sometimes younger I dont' see why they are making 18 a deadline. Perhaps they have safety concerns? You need to sit them down in a calm fashion when they have time and ask to discuss it , maybe get their reasons at least and then repost to see if there is something that can be doen to convince them.

The next time you go to get your hair styled, look through the style magazines they have at the salon and see if you can find a hair style that suits you with your glasses on. The hair stylist may also have some ideas for a hair style that would make you look great and give you more confidence. The stylist can also likely give some hints for makeup or the next trip to the mall, just ask the advice of the experts at a store's beauty makeup section. Stores like Macy's, Penney's, etc. all have people who are experts at makeup working there. If you have a friend that has the same facial features as you and wears glasses, ask them about their hair style. A different style of glasses the next time can also make a huge difference! Contacts can be a nuisance at times, especially if you're into sports! You can't wear them for most sports. And the Lasek surgery can cause problems with eyesight in the future. Good luck! I'm sure you'll find a combination of hair style and glasses that will enhance your appearance!

Just my opinion.
