Can I wear one contact?!

Question: Can I wear one contact?
I've driven with just one contact, just fine. Why would you not recommend I wear just one contact? My left is -2.50 and my right is -1.50. I see just fine wearing the left one only. I also figure that since my left one is getting weaker, I can work on making it the dominant one, by just wearing the left one. I don't get headaches or anything. Depth perception is fine.

I know that people with lazy eye or ambyopia are instructed to wear an eye patch or use blurring drops on the dominant eye to make the weak eye stronger. In my case my left eye has a stronger power than my right.

I Think You Should Ask Someone that checks peoples eyes.

the big question here is how are you judging your depth perception? Its difficult to measure yourself and this is teh obvious concern. Your brain does tend to compensate for poor vision in one eye but this is a compromise when you are talking about driving. I'm not sure why you would want to do this - not wearing a lens in one eye isn't goign to change your vision in any way. Your perscription isn't very strong so you don't have a major vision problem but surely for driving perfect is the only option? Its not just you - suppose a child moved out into the road from the eye you weren't wearing a contact in?

You cannot effect future changes in your eyes by doing what you describe, there is no advantage to you in doing this.

Having one eye more myopic than the other is not the same as amblyopia, your situation is different.

Use your eyes as a team, both corrected. Most people see better this way.
