FREAKING OUT black eye help ?!?!

Question: FREAKING OUT black eye help ?!?
I was volunteering at my younger sister's school and I was helping put away their yellow soccer goals.
The trick to folding them is spinning them and while spinning it came undone and hit me in the nose .
It kind of hit me a little under my eye as well, but not too bad .
I noticed it got a little red and has a small bump under my eye, will it turn into a black eye ?
PS the impact was not too harsh under my eye,
Thanks !

Don't freak out.

If it turns black, then it turns black. There's not much you can do about it. It's just like if you would get a bruise on any other part of your body.

You can ice it, that may help.

But if you mostly hit your nose, and most of the impact was there, your eye might not turn black.

A black eye is just a bruise! It'll be okay.

I am an optometry intern.

No way to say for sure. Fairer colored and thin skin generally bruises more easily than olive or darker colored and thicker skin. If this happened today try some cold compresses to keep down any swelling and possibly avoid your eye turning color. The eye could turn black and blue overnight. If your eye is not discolored in the morning, than your eye will be about as bad as it will get and should start to heal. If this incident occurred a day or so ago, then your eye will not turn black & blue and should have started to heal. You're a good sister for volunteering. Someone one once said "no good deed goes unpunished", sorry you were one of the unlucky ones that fit the proverb. I hope it doesn't stop you from volunteering.

You might get a black eye, you may not. It depends on how strongly your skin reacts to the trauma, and how hard you were hit. Icing the area can help bring down the swelling and reduce bruising.

If your eyeball starts to ache, or if a lot of redness or swelling occurs, go see your eye doctor to rule out any severe trauma.
